Project 319 showcases one of the greenest homes in Orange County. The project features the house pictured here in Huntington Beach California just a couple of blocks from the ocean. At over 3,000 square feet, this 3 story house does not get it’s eco-friendly designation from being space conscious.
Instead the builder, Living Green Homes, aims to achieve a Build it Green, Green Point designation rating for their eco-friendly building choices. The project is designed to inform the public how easy it is to make green choices when building homes. Many house tours have been opened to the public to display the choices and educate about environmental consciousness in product use.
The house delivers up to 65% less energy consumption, 40% less water consumption and up to 35% reduced green house gas emissions. The total financial savings to the home owner were calculated to be approximately $700 a month!
Many sponsors were used to install water conservation devices, energy efficient appliances, eco-friendly building products and indoor air quality devices. These sponsors then offered product demonstrations, samples and information on their products to the members of the public touring the homes.
What a great way to get the word out about eco-conscious building techniques, products and ideas! I’d love to tour this home or, better yet, move into it!!
